Where: A massive carnival funhouse.
Warnings: by thread

New architecture in Coba is no surprise, but this building may be a little different. A massive, three-story warehouse appears in the downtown district, painted in purples, greens, and reds, with shooting stars, fireballs, dancing dragons and neon hurricane spirals all over its sides. In the center, a tower rises another three or four stories, surrounded by scaffolding, a railroad trellis and a tube slide curing around it like double helixes. The slide hangs over the edge of the roof like a rain gutter; the train tracks vanish inside the building, and the doors and windows brim with calliope music and mad laugh tracks.

And for those who venture through those doors, a world of weirdness is in store.

The good news about Kanji's business practices is he rarely runs into trouble when Coba decides to get all weird. He prefers working by hand to using a sewing machine anyway, so it usually comes down to a difference in lighting.

(He's having to squint a lot when there's gas lamps or some shit involved, though. That's... troubling.)

The shopping district area doesn't change that often, at least, so that's something. Anyway, he's open for business today, if anyone wants to get some pretty scarves or stupid cute shit, or talk about something more complex. Otherwise he's just gonna chill with some knitting projects.

And if Shura stops by, he has some of the clothes she asked about, and a couple possible kimono designs to talk over.

What: Noah came back shortly after leaving before, now he needs to regain his bearings, meet with the locals, make new friends and finally relax

Noah was having a nice day out in the court with Rex, their usual hangout, just laughing, talking, Rex makes a crack and Noah fires back, like how they did, before the instance with Breach, before Rex was sucked into a portal for six months. Before Noah made his affiliation with Black Knight a little more...public. When Noah turns to say something else, he's stopped with a punch to his face, like during the lockdown, when he revealed to Rex the half-truth, that he was working for White Knight, only now that more of the secrets being revealed, Rex looks back at him stone cold, the delicate trust that built from before was completely shattered. Looking back, regretfully, pitifully, Noah wanted badly to placate the other, only for the scene to shift to a much duller, darker setting.

He's now in a secluded, dimly lit office, which honestly was more of a familiar sight than anything else. A woman in black with a predatory glint in her eye looks at him, boring into his skull as though she can read every single thought that passed through his mind.

"Black Knight?"

Before he can even blink, she lounges over her desk, grabbing at his throat, nearly cutting off the wind pipe, he attempts to push her off, only to have her eyes glow in an eerie purple hue, where her free hand extends into a metallic, black weapon, something that resembled a whip with a purple tip that produced electric shocks.

"I'll give you five seconds to let this all sink in, since you've have been so loyal to me for such a long time."

Eyes widen as Noah tries to scream out, but all that is produced is a cracking of his voice. His secret was now even out to Black Knight. He double-crossed her, like how he pulled the wool over Rex's eyes twice, but now, he didn't have anyone to rely on, no one to help him. He was completely and utterly alone. And now he was going to die alone by the hand of the woman he swore loyalty to for all time...

The blond young man gasps awake, nails dug into the sheets of his bed, face drenched in sweat, hands and feet cold. He looked around feverishly, gasping, panting. For a moment, he forgets where he even is, only to take a breath, hand to his forehead, recalling everything from before. He was in the city of Coba now. He took the tour bus back here after leaving so shortly to his own world.

It was to the point where the blond dreaded sleep, especially if he knew that the nightmare would recur in his subconscious. The lingering fear was there. That he wouldn't make out of this alive, that there was literally nothing else for him if he ever decided to go back home. But now, why would he want to? To see that angry and hurt face from Rex, though he'd be lucky enough to even have a civil conversation in passing. To see Black Knight, as he inevitably was stabbing her in the back, and while he could see her planning something against him as well in order for to have the upper hand in the betrayal, the possibility of dying by her hand was all very real.

Then his mind wandered to someone else. Caesar. The man he grew to trust and respect more than anyone else. When Rex was missing those six months, it was Caesar he shared close quarters with, the man that was the closest thing to Rex as Noah could have, he found out how much Caesar too was suffering, though the situation was different, they were really still in the same boat. Caesar having to lie and betray Rex in order to keep him safe, away from Black Knight, much like Noah. Suddenly he began to feel guilty for leaving Caesar like this, even if he felt leaving would be good for his sanity. He just needed to survive.

With that in mind, he exhaled, he didn't want to sleep, no matter how tired he felt, but he could at least take comfort of the fact that even if he did have to face the inevitable, he wouldn't be completely and exactly alone in the suffering

What: Istas arrives, and everything is now ridiculously cold.

Istas had just stepped out of the store when it happened, brand new midnight blue petticoat in hand. She'd expected to emerge to blaring horns, towering skyscrapers, and countless busy humans rushing down the sidewalk.

Instead she emerged to a small town, surrounded by snow and land where trees could not grow. The buildings were familiar - in fact, if she wasn't mistaken, they were exactly the same as those in Kugluktuk, which had seemed so large when she was young. But the smells here that were not the scents of Kugluktuk, and the people were not the people of Kugluktuk. The place before her was not as it appeared.

It was also not New York. Istas stood frozen in confusion and bewilderment. How could she be here, in Not-Kugluktuk? She had not arrived here by plane, or run across the frozen tundras. She had only walked through a door.

Istas did not understand. And she did not like it. She spun around, wishing to flee back into the store that she had left, but it was gone. Instead there was just a house, without even any parasols for sale in the window. With an angry growl, she clawed at the door with fingernails that had grown larger and sharper, leaving deep gouges in the wood.

Shura had written a wanted ad on a piece of paper to pin it to one of the public boards in the city center. As soon as she pinned it, however, the board fell apart, but then reassembled itself into an widescreen Internet terminal as she tried to leave. The screen read:

WANTED
STYLIST

Need help picking clothes and shopping.
Money reward.
Must like body art.

Shura
Eastern Apartment Complex
Floor 6, room 606

And, thanks to the terminal's network connection, the ad has been sent to the online board for these advertisements, so people with electronic devices can access it.

At some point during the night a wishing well appeared in the corner, maybe it was a garbage can a second ago and you saw it blur, maybe it was a fire hydrant, maybe you just hadn't seen it before, but there it is!

There's a sign next to it reading: "Toss a coin, make a wish!"
(WISHES NOT GUARANTEED TO COME TRUE)

Maybe you don't have a coin, but Coba's got your back; there's a pail full of coins next to the well.

So go on, make a wish. Or spy on other people making wishes (Or steal the coins). Surely nothing can possibly go wrong.

DESCRIPTION: Tsukishima gets dropped off and... lost?!

Training camp was a success. If it only didn't make his limbs feel as if they will fall off any given second. His fingers on right hand are still sprained and twitching numbly but he learned to ignore it. Tsukishima fixed the bandage over them and just as he's done tying it up the bus stops. There was collective groan, that yet again was ignored, as he picks up his bag and gets off the bus.

Only this isn't Miyagi. And upon further inspection Tsukishima realizes that this isn't Tokyo either! ...did the bus driver make a break stop? He never did that before.

"Oi, Yamaguchi, this is-" Tsukishima turns around towards his friend, only to find that he's not there. In fact there's no one there. His whole team and bus evaporated in the air. There aren't many things that surprise Tsukishima but- didn't they just stop here!? Yamaguchi was right behind him!

Spotting nearest store, he shifts bag on his shoulder and walks over. He picks up the newspapers and frowns at it. Coba? Is that even in Japan?
He doesn't like this. He doesn't like this at all.

DESCRIPTION: Shopping is hard, especially when you're dead broke.

[One minute he's being locked into a jail cell, then when he turns around he's suddenly in an open city holding a pamphlet that definitely wasn't in his hands a minute ago. It takes some staring at the pamphlet and a little time spent making sure he's not dreaming (pinching, running around to work up a sweat, various failed attempts to scare himself, and so on) before he accepts that this is real...

And that maybe this could be an opportunity?

So it's not too long before he's hanging around the first shop he finds, checking out the hairpins and trying to look A) like he knows what in the world he's doing looking at hairpins and B) innocent, like he's not hoping to take up lock-picking based on vague memories of movies he's seen and the faint hope that any attempts at lock-picking will actually work.

It's not working very well, and when a thought strikes him and he riffles through the bunch of coupons he just groans and considers giving up. What a time to have no money!]

They have all these ways to stay places for free, but everything else...

Library
[She was there to read. Why? She liked reading. Back home, she would spend her lazy days buried in a book or two...or ten. Sure she was here to take a vacation and meet new people. But who's to say you can't meet a new friend while enjoying a good book in a quiet place.

Plus, let's face it, this library wouldn't stay a library for long.]

Park
[Today seemed like a good day to stay outside, maybe have a picnic and take a nap under a huge tree. But she was too lazy to pack a picnic, so she definitely chose the latter. She set herself up under a huge oak tree, waited a bit for Coba to provide her a tree with a tire swing, and just relaxed there. It was a beautiful day, and the perfect time to let all her pokemon out to run around and play. After all, what kind of trainer would she be if she didn't let her pokemon enjoy today?

So avoid eye contact with the dragon, and feel free to bother her.]

This is quite a place Shura has found herself into. It looks like a normal, modern city at first glance, but if she stares long enough, she can see ruins and desolation everywhere. Is this an illusion? It was hard to tell. Both the modern city and the rubble looked equally real. She walks around the shopping district and stops every few steps, trying to find a clue as to what this place really is, why she is here, and whether she can find any drinkable water for her parched throat. As she travels, her stench lingers in the air long after she has left, a mix of dirt, gore, and sweat that makes it difficult for others to breathe. Maybe someone should tell her, as she seems oblivious.

I: Open To All

On the morning of Day 6, there are some changes to the Inaba District. For blocks around, all the sidewalks have become moving walkways, all of them funneling pedestrian traffic towards the house at the bottom of the hill, the doorway and the back gate into the yard festooned with pink, yellow, and purple crepe paper and any number of bright foil balloons bobbing in the breeze.

Inside the house, there's a root beer keg sitting in the middle of the kotatsu, and a sheet cake with marshmallow fluff frosting on the kitchen table. A big-screen TV and an expansive DVD rack sit along one wall; a hot tub is visible in the back yard, and a number of simple party games are stacked along one wall. With the number of people living in the house (ten at the moment), being always ready for a party is somewhat natural. Cats are everywhere on the main floor, and anyone opening the door to the basement is likely to meet a curious rabbit or two on the stairs.

As for the inhabitants of the house, they're around too, with reactions ranging from equable to bemused to annoyed.

II: Closed to Castmates
Before too long, a roll of crime scene tape has been appropriated to cordon off the upstairs and downstairs, and everyone's been alerted to the situation. The kitchen whiteboard reads 'House Meeting: Downstairs Workshop, 2PM' - a notice that actually went up before the party started, but it's possible nobody noticed that. At the appointed time, Souji's made sure some reliable-seeming stranger is watching the main floor, and has brought down quilts and cushions to set up a comfortable discussion circle.

"...It might have been better to do this at the Junes Food Court, if we could," he says, when everyone's assembled. "But I didn't want to have to try to find it."

III: Closed to Amat Veterans + Chie
When the rest of the house meeting is done, Souji ducks into one of the downstairs bedrooms and retrieves the contents of the mini-fridge: four boxes of topsicles. Handing two to Teddie and two to Nanako, he delegates the solemn responsibility of making sure everyone upstairs gets one to them, and promises the rest of them will be up in just a few minutes.

"...Now that we're all on the same page," he offers apologetically, "there are a few other things we should discuss as well. Chie, you don't have to be here for this part if you'd rather not, but... it's probably good to know."

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, you find the scenery in front of you suddenly shifting, the world turning into a giant blur for all of a few seconds. You might feel a bit of vertigo, but nothing too serious, especially if you've been here for long enough to get used to it.

When it returns to normal, you might find that some places have moved, others have popped up in their place. An entire neighborhood blending into part of a busy city street, for example, or a foreign shopping district where some of Coba's smaller shops once stood.

Main street, where all the excitement happens, has gone over something of a change as well. There are a number of small, vendor stalls scattered down the road, all advertising something different - EDUCATION, HOUSING, EMPLOYMENT . . . and one labeled COBASPIRACIES that the other vendors seem to be shooting dirty looks at.

Er. In any case, come see what the excitement is all about, explore the new and moved locations, or grab some of the free food that has been happily placed out for anyone wandering down main street.

I trust this message is not ill-timed. I am Nagi, lately arrived to this place as many of you are as well. I would ask for the assistance of those reading this then.

In order to form a more complete picture of this dimension, I would like to engage in the process of gathering information. Many new buildings have sprung up with our arrival and those that have seem to be influenced on the preferences and tastes of those here. Those who have experienced such, what buildings arrived from your own dimensions? Have you likewise experienced locations changing around you?

I would like to ask about time periods as well. It has become evident that there are those of you from times much more advanced than my own. If I may then, I would like to ask what year it is for you. For myself it is Taisho 20 or 1931.

If there is other information you wish to share or things you would like to ask others, I encourage such as well. Together we may be able to learn more about the exacts of this dimension.

[It's a beautiful morning in this part of Coba! The sun is shining, the birds are singing - or at least they were until a few seconds ago. Suddenly, the city is plunged into darkness again, and the streets start to fill with people dressed in outrageous costumes. There's music in the air and all traffic is stopped for the parade of revellers heading down the street. Anyone from New Orleans might find the spectacle rather familiar, but for anyone else it's still an excuse to party like the night never ended]

Coba was amazing, in Tommy's opinion. It was just like being in New York -- at least, most of the time -- except without the worrying about the contents of his wallet. He could just walk up to a hot dog stand, ask for six, and boom, he had lunch. He even gets an extra large soda.

Which is what he has just done. Tommy kicks back on a park bench with an obscene amount of hot dogs, and looks very intent on eating the lot of them. Other people might be worried about the nature of Coba, or weirded out by the entire thing, but for the moment, Tommy pushed that all to the back of his mind.

"This place is awesome," he said out loud, as if to reassure himself of that fact. Really, who could complain about free housing and free food? Only crazy people. So what if the street occasionally couldn't decide if it was asphalt or cobblestone.

Freedom Looks A Lot Like A Bigger Prison Cell [OPEN]

He'd gotten out of the car with everyone else, gone into the bathroom on the plane to change out of his prison clothes and when he returned to the cabin... Charles, Hank... the stranger they were with: none of them was on the plane. The cabin was empty and they were in the air.

They landed in a city. He was handed a pamphlet when he disembarked.

Strange.

He took a room for the night, heading out the next morning to look around. Where did everyone else go, if they weren't on the plane, and how could he get ahold of them? How was he going to get back... and did he want to? Charles had told him he'd broken him out only because he absolutely had to. He needed him for something that he didn't want his help with and Erik didn't know what yet. He did know that his idea of what was important hadn't matched Charles' in a long time.

But for now? He just needed intel. So he walked.
