WHEN: Day 3, morning

[It's a beautiful morning in this part of Coba! The sun is shining, the birds are singing - or at least they were until a few seconds ago. Suddenly, the city is plunged into darkness again, and the streets start to fill with people dressed in outrageous costumes. There's music in the air and all traffic is stopped for the parade of revellers heading down the street. Anyone from New Orleans might find the spectacle rather familiar, but for anyone else it's still an excuse to party like the night never ended]

[Cami is there in the throng, but she seems much more interested in eyeing the entrance to a bar that seems to have suddenly appeared]

[Marcel's been staying in a small hotel nearby, he's usually asleep at this hour but when it gets dark he peeks out the window, then jumps down from it.]

This is more like it.

[calls out from a distance. The music is getting loud, so he has to yell.]

Cami?!

[Caroline had been on the other side of the street when the scenery changed and it took her a moment to orient herself again before she picked her way through the crowd, stopping when she noticed the normally dressed woman staring at the doorway.]

Are you new here?

[turns like she's not quite sure she heard right but smiles and waves when she sees him]

And it looks like the place is already trying to make me feel at home.

It seems to do that. [She's smiling at least ]

Caroline Forbes. And you are?

[makes his way through the crowd to reach her]

Hey, when did you get here?

[gives her a smile in return]

Camille O'Connell. Cami.

[he's fairly sure he's hearing things, but when he steps outside . . . nope. No, no this is very much not that at all. He tips his head back and groans]

It's too early for this.

Nice to meet you. [Caroline glanced at the bar for a moment.]

Think it's stocked up in there? The Grill was when I found it earlier, but I don't know if that carries over for everything...

Just got in. That guide wasn't kidding about this place making an effort for us...

For a second I thought this whole thing was for me.

...Technically, yes. I'm 19 even if I don't look it.

[once he's done complaining, Josh is wandering over to investigate the bar that just showed up - and pauses, when he sees her]

Look, Kanji was just trying to go shopping. That's all. He can't find the right stuff in the textile shop for Chie-senpai's poor jacket (and he really wants to get that patched up as soon as possible, so she has something familiar - she could use it), so he struck out for another fabric shop and found himself in... well, this chaos.

It looks like... a parade? Sort of? Maybe? With about 300 percent more weird than he's used to in a parade. CAN HE JUST GO HOME NOW.

('Home,' in this case, meaning back to Inaba House. He doesn't want to try his luck with Inaba proper just yet.)

I'd say that says more about you than anything else.

Although - do I even need a job here?

That depends on if there's a legal drinking age here.

Yeah! We all sort of ended up here at the same time, give or take a couple of people. Did you just get here?

It's quite unlike anything Nagi has ever seen herself either. It's all lights and colors, gaudy costumes and beads. So many beads! They're just being chucked from the people going through the parade honestly. By the time the Summoner manages her way past the parade that she hadn't been expecting and more near the crowds gathering to watch, she's pretty much bedecked with beads.

She stops to catch her breath nearby Kanji, pressing a hand against her chest. "This is... quite the process..."

For a moment she considers asking if this is a common occurrence but really it seems like more often than not she ends up running into new people just as clueless as she is here.

"Pain in the ass, is what it is. Can't we just, I dunno, shop?"

Maybe without getting beaned in the head by bead strings?
