There's a number of ways it could happen, but regardless you find yourself standing on the outskirts of a city. A beautiful city, as familiar to you as any from your world, with all manner of buildings within sight. A sign on the side of the road greets you, saying WELCOME TO COBA You're already part of the family! It's practically inviting you to step into the city limits. Why don't you? As soon as you do, you'll find a pamphlet in your hand, almost eager to tell you all about what this mysterious Coba has to offer. And eager seems to be the impression you get about almost everything - the sun seems to brighten, the flowers seem to perk up - it's almost as if everything about Coba is welcoming you as an honored guest. And you are. Though hopefully, only temporarily. Coba would love nothing more for you to become an honored member of her precious community. Welcome to Coba, visitor, and we hope you enjoy your stay! Your character has found themselves in Coba, and are welcome to do any of the following: ● As you enter the city, you hear some bustle about a homecoming party! Following the signs will find yourself at a plaza with food, drink and live music, of all sorts and types. Why don't you stay awhile and indulge? ● Or, if you're not the party type, maybe you'd like to check out the city's cultural center! There's art, books, and other things to keep your mind occupied. And, maybe you'll meet other like-minded people there. ● Not in the mood for any of the above? There's always the beach! It's a lovely day, the waves are beautiful and the stores along the boardwalk all have signs up that read "TAKE WHAT YOU NEED". Maybe you need a surf board. ● Or maybe you have something else you want to do? Go for it! You're more than welcome to come up with your own prompts. In addition to the above, we would love to encourage anyone taking part in the testdrive to world build with us! Whether it be a street name or an entire neighborhood, whatever you come up with will become part of the game's canon. All we ask is that you pop over here to link us so we can see what you've done! [Wanting the ground to open up and swallow you rarely brings on the actual event, but finding herself in a strange city actually has Kira more relaxed than she should be. The party is a draw for a while, but she eventually wanders off, disappears into the library to see what it has to offer. ]

[having desired his own escape from the party for Reasons, Josh has found the library as well. Not a place he ever really frequented, but hey, maybe it had some cool books? Who knows. And it would be a nice distraction, too.

When he spots Kira he wanders up next to her, nodding at the shelf and as casually as can be:]

Anything good?

[Kira had been paging through a novel when he spoke and she jumped, before she glanced over at him.]

Um..yeah, probably.

Maybe.

[andps]

[whoops. He looks apologetic for startling her]

Maybe?

I was just looking to see if there was anything I'd recognize. It seems like a pretty normal library though. [At least she'd found what she'd have expected in a library at home.]

[Josh takes a look at the shelves of books, then looks back down to her, quirking a grin]

That's a relief. I'd be a little worried if it turned out to be something else.

Yeah, I mea....oh

Like what?

Like . . . I'm not sure. The only things coming to mind are stupid horror movie scenarios and if I say them out loud I feel like I'd be jinxing us.

Yeah, that's probably a good idea.

[Awkward silence moment.]

Were you looking for a specific book or?

Not . . . exactly. [he makes a face] I was escaping the party outside for now. This was kind of the first place I saw so I figured, why not, you know?

Same here.

[More or less. ]

I'm Kira.

Not a partier, huh?

I'm Josh.

I can be.

[...Not really.]

Uh huh. [he totally believes her]

...Maybe not so much.

I do go to parties, or I would...if I hadn't just transferred schools...

Oh, ouch. That makes it a little rough.

[he nods towards the exit] They probably aren't like that, at least? I mean, this one doesn't exactly give off the high school or college party vibe.

Yeah, they really weren't.

At least not at my old school.

[andps]

They weren't like this when I was in high school either.

[onetailed]

Where'd you go to school?

I was in California before I ended up here.

[andps]

Out in the middle of nowhere, midwest.

But before I ended up here I was in New Orleans.

[onetailed]

I've never been that far east, although I do want to go there one day.

New Orleans I mean, not..the middle of nowhere.

[Allison is in the library too, browsing through the shelves for something that catches her interest. Seeing Kira, after a while, she walks over to her.]

Hey! [Said with a smile.] I wondered how long it'd be before I saw a familiar face.

[...Definitely an unexpected face and Kira's just staring at her.]

Uh..yeah, hi.

Sorry, did I sneak up on you? [Her tone's apologetic, then a beat before: ] Were....you expecting someone else?
