TESTDRIVE #1

There's a number of ways it could happen, but regardless you find yourself standing on the outskirts of a city. A beautiful city, as familiar to you as any from your world, with all manner of buildings within sight. A sign on the side of the road greets you, saying WELCOME TO COBA You're already part of the family! It's practically inviting you to step into the city limits. Why don't you? As soon as you do, you'll find a pamphlet in your hand, almost eager to tell you all about what this mysterious Coba has to offer. And eager seems to be the impression you get about almost everything - the sun seems to brighten, the flowers seem to perk up - it's almost as if everything about Coba is welcoming you as an honored guest. And you are. Though hopefully, only temporarily. Coba would love nothing more for you to become an honored member of her precious community. Welcome to Coba, visitor, and we hope you enjoy your stay! Please read the FAQ before commenting! ♥ Welcome to the City of Coba Testdrive! Your character has found themselves in Coba, and are welcome to do any of the following: ● As you enter the city, you hear some bustle about a homecoming party! Following the signs will find yourself at a plaza with food, drink and live music, of all sorts and types. Why don't you stay awhile and indulge? ● Or, if you're not the party type, maybe you'd like to check out the city's cultural center! There's art, books, and other things to keep your mind occupied. And, maybe you'll meet other like-minded people there. ● Not in the mood for any of the above? There's always the beach! It's a lovely day, the waves are beautiful and the stores along the boardwalk all have signs up that read "TAKE WHAT YOU NEED". Maybe you need a surf board. ● Or maybe you have something else you want to do? Go for it! You're more than welcome to come up with your own prompts. In addition to the above, we would love to encourage anyone taking part in the testdrive to world build with us! Whether it be a street name or an entire neighborhood, whatever you come up with will become part of the game's canon. All we ask is that you pop over here to link us so we can see what you've done! Finally, ENJOY YOURSELVES. Seriously, this is meant to be a laid back, enjoyable game. We welcome any questions, critiques, and ideas, so always feel welcome to approach us about any and everything. We hope you decide to stay here in Coba! |

I plan to ask. I want more details about sex island and what I was doing and a bunch of other things I don't want to get into right now. [like him and Katherine working at a brothel? The hell?]
Well, New Orleans is weird because Klaus apparently had a kid. You know, a thing that shouldn't be possible.
no subject
He's tempted to make a bad Edward Cullen joke, but he refrains, furrowing his brow as he tries to think that one through. How would that work? Especially if Klaus wasn't Numbered?]
And here I thought sex island was the weirdest thing you'd heard about.

[he suddenly regrets not bringing the bourbon with him. Maybe they'd wander past a liquor store and he could pick up a bottle]
According to my source, they brought all their drama down there. Which is all for the better, because I don't want to deal with any of that again. But that was the big thing she told me, which I'm still kind of wrapping my mind around.

He's starting to wish his religious principles weren't so strong - he could go for something stronger than caffeine.] At least we don't have to worry about them anymore. [Beyond whatever they hear through the gossip vine.] One less thing on our plate of whatever's hitting town that week.
no subject
Hey, who knows, maybe this place will be a nice vacation that isn't full of that kind of crap.
[it comes out sarcastic, though, because let's be real - they can't go anywhere without drama following them]
no subject
Yeah, hopefully. [Their track record really would prove otherwise. Alesci, on the other hand? Alesci's siblings dragged him into their own dumb tangled web.] For once, I'd like it if the drama around here wasn't related to us or our relatives.
no subject
No Salvatore-related drama allowed. Maybe I'll go change the welcome sign to say that.

[It looks like they're nearing the hospital. Stefan can't help relaxing his guard as they approach - for Alesci, the hospital was like home. His parents worked at one, and he had grown up knowing nearly every single person that worked here at one point or another. Salvatore's parents... they, uh, they were farmers? Owners of some great estate?
The details are slipping.] So how does this work? You snagging dinner, I mean?
no subject
[Damon glances up at the hospital and raises his eyebrows; just like everything else in Coba, it gave off that small town vibe, as though he could learn who worked there in a day or two, if he felt like it.
The question makes him pause, briefly. Of course, maybe Stefan doesn't remember little details like that. That and his methods have changed over the years, when it came to stocking up on blood bags. So he figures he'll go with the nicer of his usual options]
Walk in, find cute nurse, compel cute nurse, profit.
no subject
Nevermind. Compulsion works in this case.
no subject
[finish your sentences, little brother]
no subject
But this isn't Locke, so... [He shrugs.] Unless I started working here, it'd be relatively useless.
no subject
That seems a little too legal for my tastes.
[Damon please]

[Now he's seriously considering it, glancing around the area as if he's scoping out the lay of the land. Sure, he can compel his way into a job, but he'd be damned if he didn't keep it legally.] I was already doing research on synthetic blood, remember? No one would notice if a few extra pints went missing.
no subject
[his tone isn't exactly rejecting the idea, though. While it wasn't his thing - and never had been, really, he was more the snatch, feed, and compel them lose type when it came to blending in - Stefan wasn't. And he had to admit, it would make the fitting in thing a little easier. Well, about equally as easy as compelling a bunch of people]
Couldn't hurt to try, I guess.
no subject
[This was Alesci's life - and it's so, so obvious the second they walk in. Stefan's practically bouncing off his feet as he looks around for the research portion of the hospital. Hey, if Coba's a city that provides whatever a person needs? Then it's gonna provide him one of those research facilities for synthetic blood - and draculin. Lots and lots of draculin.]
no subject
[it's said more to be contrary than anything else. If Stefan wants to get a job and do everything legit, who was he to argue? He'd still have to compel a nurse anyway, at least to start, and Stefan likely had to do a little of his own compulsion.
He blows out a dramatic sigh, shoulders heaving with the motion]
Fiiiine. We'll do things your way.
no subject
He feels like he should act more upset, but this is his second favorite place in the city! So before Damon can argue, he zooms off towards the research facilities. He'll be back soon. Probably.
Whenever he does return, though, it's with a grin and a couple of business cards because guess what?] I didn't even have to compel that many of them. They knew the value of a Princeton degree.
no subject
While Stefan's off being a nerd—I mean, getting a job and doing what he has to, Damon has located the aforementioned pretty nurse. A little flirting and a little compulsion later, he has a small lunch tote (and free snadwich) full of blood bags to store in wherever-the-hell they plan to stay.
He can't help but snort when Stefan shows off the business cards, though. Of course he didn't have to compel anyone] Only an idiot wouldn't. Do you have to show off to anyone else, or are we going to terrorize the wildlife now?
