He pops up next to Peter, almost out of nowhere. Hmm, skinny and male, not his usual type, but - hey, he was bored. Why not]

"Nice"? Do you generally refer to parties like that?

I don't really do parties. At all. Usually I'm not even invited.

Yeah, you don't seem the party type.

I could've said that you look like someone just asking to get beat up, but I'm being nice today.

[ normally people wanting to beat him up would get a more visceral reaction, but he does have super strength ]

[he drapes an arm around Peter's shoulders, as friendly as can be, and points across the way to a girl dancing with a few of the locals]

See the pretty girl over there? She'll get mad at me if I'm too mean.

Sooo you're saying you're whipped.

[bloodymess]

Rude. I'm being a good boyfriend.

Because being a good person sounds like too much effort.

[bloodymess]

I have my moments. Sometimes.

I'm sure she's very impressed.

[ carefully peeling Damon's arm away ]

[letting him, but he isn't making it easy. Because he's a dick]

Impressed isn't the word I'd use, but sure.

[heightens]

[ as if elena would be anywhere damon isn't. she's near him, close by but not smothering, and she is definitely not on the prowl. she's dancing with a stranger in the middle of the street, grinning and laughing and generally having a great time. for the first time in months, she's actually having a good time. ]

[bloodymess]

[THAT ISN'T FAIR YOUNG LADY.

Because he's stopping his little hunt to watch her, unable to resist something that might be a real smile. Dammit Elena]

[heightens]

[ oh, did that smile mean you want to join her because elena is taking it that way. when she notices that damon has stopped to watch her, her grin grows, and she comes over to grab his hands and pull him into the street with her. ]

Dance with me!

[bloodymess]

[like he's going to stop her. He puts up the briefest of token protests before he lets Elena pull him out there, and drops his head back to let out an over-dramatic sigh]

I guess I could, if you want me to. [of course he wanted to]

[heightens]

[ and of course elena wants him to. she rolls her eyes and pulls him close, and though the song is a bit too upbeat for a slow dance, that's exactly what she falls into, with him. it's habit, at this point, considering all the waltzing and slow dancing they did back in mystic falls, and elena's not about to fight it. they end up in positions reminiscent of the dance they had the first night they slept together, and the memory makes elena smile. ]

Remember last time we did this?

[ they're getting a couple interesting looks, slow dancing to a more up-tempo song, but elena's not paying any attention to the outside world. as far as she's concerned it's just her and damon. ]

[he must be in one of his (significantly good) moods, if he goes with it while being the sarcastic jerk he sometimes tends to be. But it's different with Elena, because it's never serious, never biting. More playful]
