[Tonight Coba seems to be having a massive street party, there's music and fireworks and maybe a few hungry vampires looking for prey. What are YOU doing about it?]

[There's a moment of internal debate before she's up on there beside him, and passing him the flask. ]

Well, nobody's died yet, so yes.

You keep saying "yet" like it's inevitable. [His tone's light, even as he accepts the flask and takes a sip.]

This isn't Mystic Falls, Care. I've got some faith in Coba's track record, whatever it is.

Well, it's kind of a habit. [Parties happen and people die. It's not exactly rocket science.]

And especially at parties and I know it's not Mystic Falls, because if it was, I wouldn't even be able to set foot inside...

[Now that's news to him. Tyler furrows his brow.]

I don't think there was a mystical barrier in my world. How'd that happen?

Well, there was this group of witches called Travelers, and basically Katherine's family was part of it, and her daughter was one, and they have thing thing where they can take up residence in other people's bodies and just tag along for the ride.

So their leader got free, and they were setting up to do this big ritual, after the whole Silas thing, that involved Elena and Stefan as the last doppelgangers, and would pretty much turn Mystic Falls into a magic-free zone.

And the other side collapsed too. So they managed to do it, and turned Mystic Falls into a magic free zone. So if a vampire tries to cross the barrier, they die of whatever killed them in the first place.

So none of us can go home.

Mom and I, we'd meet up for picnics outside the town limits, though.

[Maybe he should start taking notes. It feels very Hardy Boys-ish of him, but it's a lot to keep straight. Tyler winces: for witches and werewolves, getting stripped of their powers wouldn't be a big deal. But vampires, yeah, he could see that being a problem.]

Damn. I... yeah, we had nothing like it.

No wonder you're sticking around here. With Bonnie gone, you can't exactly get rid of it either. [Didn't Bonnie have a cousin, though? Someone who could also tap into that Bennett magic? Tyler sighs, staring up at the fireworks again. He's not sure what to say because, well, Mystic Falls will always be home. He can't think of a life without it.]

There's more, but that's more or less where I am right now. Exiled from home and trying to find a way to get Bonnie back. Damon showed up here so I thought Bonnie might, but... [Caroline shook her head slightly.]

Elena gets her family and all, though, that's something, right?

[Right, because Jenna died in their world. Jenna never got married to Alaric; Jenna never got pregnant; and Jenna most especially didn't enjoy success as a psych professor at Whitmore. Guilt flashes over his face, albeit briefly.]

Even if Bonnie never shows up, she can't be the only witch around. I'll ask around campus and see what I can find.

Sure, Elena's got her family, but you deserve to see the Sheriff more too.
