Noah paused in turn as his gaze shifted to the well again. Memories began to flood in blue-green eyes of someone in particular, and what his original thoughts were when he first came into Coba. Having people be kind to him under false pretenses was not at all new and Shura’s statement was a reminder of that.

I mean, one would hope it's genuine, but…there’s always that possibility that they’re putting you in a false sense of security and that…you signed up for something you never wanted to in the first place.
