WHERE: All over Coba!
WHEN: Day 4, noon and onwards

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, you find the scenery in front of you suddenly shifting, the world turning into a giant blur for all of a few seconds. You might feel a bit of vertigo, but nothing too serious, especially if you've been here for long enough to get used to it.

When it returns to normal, you might find that some places have moved, others have popped up in their place. An entire neighborhood blending into part of a busy city street, for example, or a foreign shopping district where some of Coba's smaller shops once stood.

Main street, where all the excitement happens, has gone over something of a change as well. There are a number of small, vendor stalls scattered down the road, all advertising something different - EDUCATION, HOUSING, EMPLOYMENT . . . and one labeled COBASPIRACIES that the other vendors seem to be shooting dirty looks at.

Er. In any case, come see what the excitement is all about, explore the new and moved locations, or grab some of the free food that has been happily placed out for anyone wandering down main street.

Believe it or not, the buses here are on time more often than they aren't. That's the real conspiracy.

[she's mostly joking. She blows out a sigh, though, and crosses her arms] Everything. He isn't a man of reason.

[Huh. Tyler mulls over that for a second or two.] Go figure.

You've just gotta hope some poor sap isn't actually interested in knowing about the public transport here.

If they are and he doesn't actually give them what he's supposed to, I may have to abandon my post here.

Really? You'd abandon the kids who may be totally interested in the wonderful world of...

[Skimming the booth for flyers now! He pulls the first one he sees.] of Floral Management?

I think the kids are capable of picking up a flyer. And I wouldn't abandon it permanently - just long enough to . . . "convince" Robert to do his job properly.

I don't know, this "Floral Management" thing looks pretty complicated.

[He shoots her a grin, finally resuming normal volume.] Isn't it your job to help me understand the various programs I'd study?

It's a good thing the nice lady who runs the floral shop knows what she's doing, huh?

[she grins back, doing the same] Unless you plan on going into a scientific field, I won't be much help. I don't actually work at the university.

Like idiot down there - [she jerks a thumb at Robert] - I'm just here to hand out flyers and direct people where to go. And share what information I do know.

Damn.

Well... what if I happen to be a chemistry whiz? [He's not... entirely lying. As Stefan's second-in-command, he's spent way too many hours memorizing chemical formulas. (His high school teachers didn't know what to make of it. Neither did Tyler.)] Then maybe I could get the full spiel?

[bless your heart, Tyler. She raises both eyebrows, amused]

I could give you as full a spiel as I know? Is that your planned major?

At this point, it might as well be. [Though he'd rather not say why (thank you, Stefan). His curiosity's getting the better of him, so he asks, as genuinely as possible:]

So if you don't work for the ivory tower, then where do you work? The hospital?

Good choice. No bias, of course. [she was completely biased]

Close, they're practically connected. I work at the labs.

[Not quite the answer he was expecting.]

So you're a researcher? Can I ask what you're working on, or is that like "Classified?"

[she shakes her head]

Most of what we work on isn't classified, but right now I'm not working on anything. It's why I'm out here, and not inside.

That's not so bad. You get to meet all of us newcomers that way. [beat] Unless you're not really into meeting people from different realities.

Are you kidding? I'm absolutely into it. [she gives him a huge grin] There's no way I'd be able to afford seeing the world outside of this place, and being here lets me experience that and then some.

[Now that's something he hasn't had to think about in a while. Mom and Dad may have not been the best parents, but they ensured that Tyler would never have to financially support himself. (Thank you, Lockwood trust fund.)

He can't exactly relate, even if he knows the feeling of remaining trapped in your own home.] Knowing this place, you might actually get to experience the whole world.

Some of these buildings, apparently, are supposed to be in other worlds. Like, knowing my luck? They're gonna bring back my whole hometown or something.

I know! That's the best part. [she wasn't born here in Coba, though she had come here at a young age and grown up here. When she had left to go back into the world outside, it had been a huge surprise to experience life without Coba's intricacies. A real job, living on her own, the college life and a little past that. But she'd ultimately ended up back here. Not that it was a bad thing]

Coba has a tendency to do that. There's a building or two here that shows up every now and then from where I went to college.

Seriously? I think it's the weirdest part. Kind of like a subconscious attempt at preventing homesickness.

[While he has some ties to Mystic Falls - his mom, for instance, he would've been out of town at Whitmore anyways.] But if it's normal, I wonder what's actually weird here.

It's kind of like that. But you get used to it.

[that statement has her sighing, and she jerks her head in the direction of a certain conspiracy theorist] That's weird.

[He glances back towards the Transportation booth and stifles a sigh.] Fair enough. We've got them back home too, but they're more concerned about "truthing" and something about our dollar bill.

You couldn't pay me enough money to figure out their deal.

All that junk about Illuminati and whatnot, right? I've heard it.

[courtesy of Robert, of course] You're better off. That kind of thing will rot your brain.

Probably, but I've been addicted to stranger things. [see: his and Jeremy's brief love affair with recreational drugs.]

If that's the weirdest thing about Coba, though, I could get used to it.

It'll rot your brain in the same way.

[there's the briefest of thoughtful pauses, before she snorts] There's other weird things, but they aren't as . . . prevalent.

Really? What other kind of weird things? We've already cleared the shifting buildings, and I don't think it's the sudden parades.

[Nora gave him an impish little smile]

If I tell you, that ruins the fun. It's nothing bad - and nothing weird, despite what some people might try to tell you. And they're rare, but you'll know it when you see it.
