Maybe you stayed in Coba, maybe you went home and came back, or maybe this is your first time here, but everyone is suddenly greeted to a friendly, female voice over an intercom (or maybe it's a some other device? Depending on where you're from)

"Welcome citizens. We hope you're enjoying your visit! Transport will leave in twenty minutes for the Coba city-wide tour!"

If you follow the voice, you'll find yourself at a bus stop. Or is it a fancy monorail? A carriage? A couple of horses? Coba is flexible and will change herself to suit you, after all. And if you get left behind, don't worry! There's free cabs anywhere in the city, who also will be more than happy to give you their own version of the tour.

The Coba city-wide tour boasts an hour of informative information regarding Coba's most important locations, some extra brochures (with some extra savings in there, of course), and will finally return you to the place you left from.

Of course, maybe the tour isn't for you. After all, the party is still going on, and now Coba's businesses are really beginning to open and advertise what they have to offer. Have you checked out the free hotel room? Or maybe you're grabbing a free meal? Or maybe, just maybe - you're looking into an apartment!

Either way, Coba hopes you've been enjoying yourselves. She has so much to offer you.

"Thanks. It's nice to meet you again too," she said, smiling just a little bit before she turned her head to look around a bit more. "I mean, we didn't really get much of a chance to talk last time. Considering, you know, why I was even there in the first place."

"So... just how accurate is this place to the real thing anyway?" She asked after a few more moments. "I mean, it looks pretty close to me, but again, I didn't really have time for sightseeing when I was in Inaba. Are all the stores here the same, or are there any differences?"

"Yeah, Shadows don't leave a lotta time for just talking." And she probably wanted to go home pretty quick after that.

"It's... pretty accurate, give or take the people. Ma's not here, that's just weird. But I'll take doin' without the asshole who hangs out by the shrine and calls me a degenerate punk all the damn time. Otherwise, so far it looks like the same stuff that's closed back home is closed here, but who knows how long that'll last."

It's a new place. Someone might see a storefront and decide to make something of it. Or the city might decide a closed shop needs something made of it. (It already has, actually, but Kanji hasn't... examined the empty building on the other side of the textile shop too closely yet.)

"Especially when we had a deadline of about an hour to stop then," Yukari said. Which had been horrible to worry about, considering just everything that had been going on. She's still a bit surprised that they had managed to actually stop it in time.

She looks around after Kanji finishes his explanation, and then frowns when she notices something. It sure looked like there were a lot of closed places here. Considering she had only really been around the shopping district of Inaba during the night, she hadn't really noticed it then, but...

"I see. I'm guessing that Junes coming in wasn't really a good thing for this place..."

"An hour? Shit. We at least got a little longer than that - usually a couple weeks before the final deadline. Doin' stuff took up the whole afternoon, though." And usually left him too wiped to do anything else.

Yukari's last comment makes him scowl a bit. "It really wasn't. And then all anyone did was bitch about how the shopping district was disappearin' instead of, you know. Coming back to it. Lazy dicks."

His family's shop's been okay. Junes can't really do handmade textile stuff, and they haven't really struggled since right after his dad died - people finally take his ma seriously as a business owner. But not nearly everyone's been so lucky.

"Yeah. The thing behind the whole situation was big on emulating the way it was set up back during the incident on Port Island. There was only an hour each night when the Shadows were around."

She nodded at that mention of the shopping district though. "I... yeah. That sure sounds like, well, anyone in general, really. Complaining about something, but dont' do anything about it because the other option is more convenient."

Huh. That'll be something to keep in mind for later.

"Things're looking up a little, now, but I don't think it's gonna be what it was any time soon." Still, at least it hasn't completely died.

Assuming that you even remembered, anyway.

"That's good," Yukari said. It did make sense, since... well, there had to be things that Junes couldn't do well. It was just something that needed to be figured out, that's all. "For what it's worth, I hope it keeps getting better."

He's smarter than he gives himself credit for, and this isn't the first time he's been presented with 'something weird's going to happen after you get home.' It'll probably take a while, since he has to catch up to Naoto first, but... well. This is gonna stick.

"I think it will. Junes's also been talkin' about starting a local-goods section, which would help a lot." And for some damn reason his ma doesn't want him to make a sign for it, whenever it does happen.

"Really? That's... kinda surprising. I mean, I get that the people working there might want to support that, but you'd figure that it'd be a bit difficult to get the heads of the company to be willing to do something like that."

Still, if it's something that'd happen, all the better, right?

Kanji shrugs. "Far as I know, they're still hammerin' out the details. But even Junes can't do everything. Love to see them try t'sell our stuff, it'd be a mess."

(Actually, he wouldn't like to see that, because then he'd have to worry about them doing it well. But that's beside the point.)

"'sides, if they drum out all the local business they can't exactly stay there and make money themselves."

"Yeah. That's a good point too," Yukari said. It would definitely make sense for the company not to want one of their stores to fail because of that. Besides, it wasn't like Junes was an international company or anything like that. Maybe they were still 'small' enough to make that work out?

"Yeah, anything custom probably wouldn't work out too well. It'd be way too difficult for them to be able to manage it."

"Exactly. There's a balance we haven't figured out yet, but we got some time."

He's not about to let his family's store close without a fight. And everyone else is starting to come around, so there's some hope.

"That's good. I hope that you don't have too many other problems with it though..."

She thinks about it for a few more moments, but then... "So, other than your shop, what else is here?"

"Plenty'a stuff, depending on if anyone decides t'run it. My friend's family's liquor store's across the street, the one with the vending machines. We got a Chinese diner, we got a tofu place - Rise's family's - we got a bookstore, we got a gas station, and a lotta closed..."

He trails off, actually looking at the building he's so used to being a closed barber shop that he didn't notice the change until just now. "Huh. Naoto's gonna love that."

Yukari blinked, because wow he sure did just trail off like that. But with that second comment, she turns to look at what he was talking about, and blinked at what she saw. "So... that's not normally there then?"

"Not usually, no. Naoto just does stuff from home. or from Tokyo."

Same with Naoto's grandfather.

"I see. That... might be a bit hard to do from there while she's here though," Yukari said. Then again, they could apparently go home whenever they wanted, right?

Assuming that it was actually 'home' and not 'where we last came from', because Yukari's pretty sure that last option wouldn't be liked by Kanji and the others all that much.

Yeah, let's... not think about that option. He really doesn't want to go back to Atia, not having gotten out along with everyone else. (Especially not with the god of roasting people alive apparently running the show for a while. Fuck that heat wave anyway.)

"Well, yeah, so Naoto'd need an office for here. But people back home probably deal with the Shirogane being wherever they damn well feel like."

"So... I guess when it comes to regular cases, they're really that good at solving them?"

What other reason could there be for people being willing to go that far to hire them, after all?

Kanji shrugs. "Somethin' like that, I guess. The family reputation's been building for a long time."

Chie compared it to the Kindaichi books, once. ~~In Subtitle Land, anyway.~~

"Huh. I'm... starting to think that I probably should've heard of them. You know, before I actually met Naoto-kun," Yukari said, though it wasn't like she really had many chances to actually need the help of a detective.
