WHEN: Day 3, morning

[It's a beautiful morning in this part of Coba! The sun is shining, the birds are singing - or at least they were until a few seconds ago. Suddenly, the city is plunged into darkness again, and the streets start to fill with people dressed in outrageous costumes. There's music in the air and all traffic is stopped for the parade of revellers heading down the street. Anyone from New Orleans might find the spectacle rather familiar, but for anyone else it's still an excuse to party like the night never ended]

Of course I do. It's just... weird because I'm used to other-you, who snaps his fingers and makes things go away. [Other-Damon's magic was basically a Get Out of Plot Free card.]

It's the same for Elena, 'cause she's still human for me, and probably for your Stefan whenever he shows up. [At this point, it's really a "when" rather than an "if."] I know you guys and yet I don't.

I can do that too, you know. [snap his fingers, snap a neck, boom, problem solved] Just without magic.

I'm sure you'll be different to them, too. I bet no one's filled you in on what you're like.

You mean the asshole who let Klaus walk all over him? [It's a bit more biting than he intended, but he's been mad at his alternate self for a while now.] I've heard bits and pieces.

[that gets a laugh out of Damon, and he reaches for the bottle to refill his drink, his expression nothing but amused]

Yep, that asshole. Not that I want to give the guy any credit, he's lumped in with the other idiots for being completely useless, but he did do some things that turned out to be close to useful.

Of course he did. He's still me, after all. [A weird hybrid version of him, granted.]

If I didn't think it'd break the universe, I'd try to meet him.

If he does show up, I'll make sure to be far away for the meeting of the Lockwood brain trust.

Bet you won't even be in the same part of town, if it ever happens.

I'm hoping and praying that I won't be.
