WHO: Patchouli, whoever else feels like showing up
WHERE: Places. You know. Basically wherever. A library is a good bet, though.
WHEN: Late Day 2-Early Day 3 I... think...
WHAT: Somehow it became possible to get this nerd to have a look around a city.

Patchouli emerged from the mansion in the middle of the night to unfamiliar surroundings. Apparently the city was so intent on dragging her in that it would give her nowhere else to go. Fine. She just wouldn't go anywhere, then, right?

Well, about that... For some reason probably a blatant shoehorning in order to get her to go look around, the siren allure of other libraries drew Patchouli into the city. She also decided to explore everything available to her. What this means is that other people have many opportunities to interrupt her, and pretty much wherever -- but once she runs across an unfamiliar library, she might settle in for a while to read.

Day 3 in the morning

Speaking of libraries, Noah went about the city to find resources, a place to stay, which was amazingly easy considering the nature of the place. While he still felt slightly on edge about how accommodating Coba was, he also knew to not look a gift horse in the mouth. He figured a library would be the next best option for information about this city. He'd find more physical work to do in the meantime.

If Patchouli is so inclined, she would just find the blonde seventeen-year-old looking through the archives on possible information on Coba.He doesn't seem to know anyone else would be here yet.

So inclined or not, they probably would cross paths at some point. Patchouli had found the archives and was without a doubt scouring them for all the information she could find -- on the city, or even just in general, really.

So, when she finally ran into him...

"Excuse me, sir," she began, "but how much have you found here about this city?" It sure seemed to her like she wasn't having the best of luck with finding information about the city. Shouldn't there be something here?

Lifting his head to the sound of footsteps coming his way, he glanced over at the dark haired girl, brows raised at her inquiry. Then rolled his shoulder casually as he set one archive down in its place.

"Aside from that tour on that "bus" my first day here, I can't say I've had good luck finding much else. The rest of this seems to just be a rehash of everything else."

"Oh." That was a little disappointing, but she supposed she had seen some repetition. That was extremely unfortunate, that she could find nothing about this place.

"I guess I won't be getting any answers any time soon, then. I'll just have to deal with 'This city just showed up around my home one day.'"

"Yeah, sorry. I wish I had more clear cut answers about this city too, but you're probably right, just have to accept it as is for now. Maybe we're just looking in the wrong places."

Keeping his hands in his jacket pockets, he takes a relaxed stance, now inquiring the other.

"If I may ask, what specific information were you looking for?"

Libraries are a fantastic place to learn about human cities - not just their history but also what sorts of things the people there are interested in or value. Not to mention their literature...

Which is to say, Orias has his reading glasses on and has just finished devouring his third book about local history. Maybe now is time to move on to a different subject...

"Excuse me, may I look at that book when you're finished with it?"

"Certainly," she responded. "I'm just about through with it, so I'll make sure I get it to you when I'm done."

Saying this, she looked up to him to get a look at who she'd have to give the book to when she was done. Those pointed ears, the horns, the... relatively low amount of clothing...

Well, that certainly was interesting. She didn't meet a lot of demonic entities with an affinity for books.

Orias is a nerd even among demons. Maybe especially among demons.

"Thank you. There's so much to read here that I've never seen before, I hardly know where to begin."

"I simply chose something relatively at random and went from there," Patchouli admitted. Everything interested her, so it was a fairly effective method for someone like her, right?

"Not a bad method. I personally like to examine one area of study until I've become tired of it, and then move on."

late day 2

Bernard's willing to believe that this city is nothing more than a drunken dream that he's navigating with a great lucidity. Somehow this entire city seemed to be a combination of bars, off licenses, libraries and bookstores - or was that simply him projecting onto the canvas that was this dreamscape?

The thing that was running counter to Bernard's theory was the sheer stubbornness of which everything seemed to be solid and real. Buildings seemed to be made of stone and brick, which means that Bernard's attempt to punch the library wall in an attempt to test the dream-like nature of Coba has ended in failure and him cursing loudly as he clutches his hand, hunched over and eventually landing in a pile on the library steps - obscuring Patchouli's path in.

Patchouli missed Bernard punching the wall. She probably would have been horribly confused by that. At this point, she was taking the encroaching city in stride. Sure, it seemed ludicrous, but a. what wasn't a little unbelievable where she came from? and b. it... didn't seem bad, either.

"Sir? Are you okay?" she asked upon catching sight of Bernard. It kind of looked like he'd slipped a little.

It takes Bernard a good long moment to realise that there's a purple haired woman looking down at him as he lay in a heap on the steps of the very building he tried to punch. The pain in his hand was subsiding to a dull throb as he sat up to actually see what the business was.

And he squints. Nope. Definitely in a dreamland because there's a woman in pajamas and purple hair.

"Are you looking for a night cap? You won't find one in the library."

"No... mostly I am just wondering why exactly you are lying on the stairs like this. Did you trip on something?"

Honestly, she could have just floated over and ignored him. But, well...

He blinks with incredulity, looking up at this ridiculously dressed woman like she is insane. She is insane, she has to be.

"I didn't want to be here." he says huffily. "It's not my fault that this world isn't working the way it's supposed to."

Such a big library! Or it seemed as much to the young Summoner as she meandered inside. Aisle after aisle, row after row, it almost feels like the books don't intend to end.

She reaches the aisle Patchouli is in eventually. The Pixie who's been keeping pace in front of Nagi this whole time finally relents and lands against a book on one of the shelves nearby the other woman. "Oh hey, this one is all about demons!"

"Oh?" Nagi bends to look.

Patchouli turned her head to look at the stranger/s who were speaking. This library was enormous, and full of many surprisingly informative books -- it was basically exactly what she wanted. The interruptions, though... well, she couldn't fault a fellow knowledge-seeker.

"Ah. Hello there. Is demonology an interest of yours, then?" It's not necessarily whether or not she heard the Pixie's voice (Can she?), but more that she knew what section of the library they were in.

It seemed most within the boundaries of this town with some supernatural influence or other could make out the Pixie. Even if she couldn't though, Nagi is more than happy to answer.

"It is. I enjoy the process of attempting to learn about all of the demonic types."

In which case, being a witch, Patchouli probably could see it. Maybe she's too busy focusing on Nagi for now.

"I see... it is not one of the first subjects I would choose to investigate, but I am basically interested in learning as much as I can, so it is still somewhat of an interest."

Nagi perks a bit at that. "You are something of a scholar then?"

Day 2 - Sunset. (SO MUCH HAPPENED OMG i hope i'm doing this right)

Someone else had the same idea. Navigating a city that was actually alive offered a wide range of opportunities to experience things - who knew. Not her.

She had no set destination in mind, and nor had she worked up to purchasing a vehicle or anything of the sort (obviously), so this meant out-and-about. When looking to get somewhere quickly, roof-hopping and superjumps were often a thing. Even the highways weren't necessarily troublesome as long as she kept moving, and if she were hit by a car or two along the way - no big deal, right? Get a little scuffed, brush ourselves off, keep going.

And it turns out...her path just happens to lead to you.


"Patchouli!"

Sure sounds familiar, huh?

Not to her, it doesn't. Patchouli had just arrived out of Gensokyo in this bizarre city, not ... wherever Shooter recognizes her from. She's a bit surprised that someone recognizes her, though. Having some sort of anchor to home would be--

would really be nice. She turned around and realized she had no idea who the hell that was.

"Hello," she responded, a bit of confusion clear in her voice.

The lack of recognition on Patchouli's part doesn't sink in right away. Shooter just...very nearly prances/struts right up to her (no really, it's like she's a lightspirited kid or puppy). There's clear familiarity on her part; easy and carefree smile, to boot, as though you were a valued friend.

And guess what, it's hug time. Seriously. (A very gentle hug, but she nearly lifts you up with the motion nonetheless.)

Patchouli isn't... exactly sure what to make of this overly affectionate response, because, of course, she does not recognize this woman. But, she kinda gets the idea, so her question isn't so much 'who are you' as:

"... have I met you and forgotten? I didn't think I was so forgetful." That would be kind of a pain if she was, what with how much she wants to learn.

Putting you down...and a blink. Two of them.

...

She perks right up, though.

"Of course we have. It was in this very city, not long ago." How long ago? She doesn't know. Details.

Noire puts Patchy down, but doesn't break the hug. Instead she pulls the youkai close - and it's time for a cheek-kiss.




"Tell me you remember that."

She doesn't sound particularly invested, though. It may be playful teasing as much as anything; after all, whether you remembered previous kisses or not, you now have this one in your recollection. That'll be good enough for now.

"You even gave me a name."
